The bikes use a computerised pedal assist system which calculates how much force is being applied and help needed – making pedalling easier and hills a breeze. The battery will last 25 to 40 miles depending on how fast you cycle and how many hills you climb, when it runs out the bike can be ridden normally. The batteries fit neatly on the back rack and weigh about as much as a laptop.

Designed differently to suit the dimensions of men and women’s bodies, these bikes have comfort built into them. A light aluminium frame, powerful suspension forks to smooth out bumpy rides and memory foam saddles all help to enable gentle exercise while travelling greenly.

All the bikes have a control panel which you use to start the bike, tell the time, turn on the bike lights and measure:

• trip distance
• trip time
• total distance
• speed
